A young South American immigrant struggles to build a new life for his wife and children in Australia. But in this foreign land, his education and experience don’t seem to count. Dreams turn to lies. Lies become reality. Does he have the will to see the light of Amanecer?

Amanecer is a short film by writer/director Alvaro D. Ruiz, produced by Luneta Productions in collaboration with Marshmallow*. It is one of four projects competitively selected for the 2008 Multicultural Mentorship Scheme, a MetroScreen and NSWFTO joint initiative.

The two lead roles in Amanecer are played by Matias Stevens (Juan) and Jessica Chapnik (Andrea).

The team behind Amanecer includes Luci Temple (Don’t Panic) as Producer, Ulysses Oliver (Marshmallow*) as Co-Producer, Ross Giardina as Director Of Photography, Patrick Nellestein as Sound Designer & Composer and Claudia Karvan (Secret Life Of Us, Love My Way) as Project Mentor.

Amanecer was shot in November 2008 on the Red Digital Motion Picture Camera.
